Here is a definitive list of all the women’s sport podcasts from Australia. And by ‘definitive’ I mean, let me know who I’ve missed in the comments.
How did I decide who was on the list you ask? If the podcast is Australian, or talking a lot about sport in Australia and features women talking about women’s sport and women talking about men’s sport… and the occasional man talking about women’s sport, it’s on the list.
I’ll provide some more detailed reviews and rankings soon. Because I’m judgy like that. Enjoy!
Follow Sports Like a Girl
“Follow Sports Like A Girl is a weekly podcast where Jocelyn Seip and Freya Logan talk about sports (mostly AFL) like girlz”
Ladies who League
Look, I can already tell you this one is going to be up there! I’m listening to Mary Konstantopoulos and Brittany Carter religiously over this summer as they cover the WBBL and more. From the LWL team, “Tune in each week as Mary K and Brittany Carter cover the latest happenings in international, the Big Bash, state and grassroots cricket. Whether you’re a diehard fan or lover of women’s sports we promise to deliver a fresh spin on cricket (and will try not to let our Thunder bias get in the way).” (In case you’re wondering, I’m all about the Chunder too! And captain Alex Blackwell is a legend.)
Chicks Talkin’ Footy
Out of Melbourne so when they say footy, they mean Aussie Rules, of course. Hosted by Fiona Newton (Hawks), Danae Gibson (Freo), Bree Mcaullay (Tigers), Rachael Hopkins (Hawks), Susannah Mott (Bombers) and Rebecca Dahl (Crows).
This Sporting Wife
“This Sporting Wife came about because Shannon Byrne (ABC Grandstand) and Fiona Bollen (Swoop) just can’t get enough of sport. Not satisfied in finding themselves married to sport through work (they’re not actually married to sportspeople, just sport itself), they’ve decided to commit their spare time to it as well.” Who would be crazy enough to do that?! I have no idea what they’re talking about…
